Rishi Kapoor was born on September 4, 1952, in Mumbai. It’s Rishi Kapoor’s 67th birthday today and is also the happiest birthday for him after he overcame a serious illness, recovering from months of treatment. His father Raj Kapoor was a great actor-director and his uncles Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor were among the biggest stars of their generation.
Rishi Kapoor’s first on-screen stint was as a toddler in the song ‘Pyaar Hua Ikraar Hua’ in the 1955 film Shree 420. In 1970, he debuted in his father’s film ‘Mera Naam Joker’ as the younger version of Raj Kapoor’s character Raju. The film also starred Simi Garewal and Manoj Kumar. It fetched him a National Award for Best Child Artist.

Five Decades of Bollywood’s Original Heartthrob
From playing the boy-next-door in the 80s and 90s to transforming his image by playing the roles of a father in 2000s, Rishi Kapoor has not left any stone unturned as far as experimenting with roles is concerned. So much so, that the actor went to the next level in the 2010s and also played an oldie in a handful of films in the last few years including Kapoor & Sons, 102 Not Out and Mulk.

But, from the past 11 months, fans have missed him on the silver screen. He has been under treatment for a life-threatening disease. Kapoor was diagnosed with a ‘marrow problem’ and for the same, he had to move to New York to pursue treatment.

“I had a marrow problem. I had to get it rectified. There was nothing serious as such. But you can’t fly long hours so I had to be here. I went through treatment and thankfully, it was successful,” explained Rishi Kapoor.
His Love For His Wife
Standing by him like a pillar of strength is Neetu Kapoor.
