Today, on the Field Marshal’s 11th death anniversary the official announcement was made.
After Raazi, Vicky Kaushal and Meghna Gulzar are all set to work together for a film that is based on Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw.
Meghna Gulzar, the director, told Mumbai Mirror, “We wanted to finish the edit on the first before reaching out to an actor. One day, I just called uu Vicky, who happened to be nearby, and invited him over for a cold coffee. We had a conversation about Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. He was about to fly to the US and said that he doesn’t want to read the script and would just do the film. But I insisted that he read it and call me,” Turns out, he loved the script.

On the other hand, Vicky Kaushal said that he personally couldn’t witness Manekshaw’s achievements but his parents would tell him that he was a fearless patriot and an amazing leader. Vicky heard of him for the first time in the content of the 1971 Indo-Pak war.
Who was Sam Manekshaw ?
Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw was the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of the Indian Army. Moreover, he was best-known for commanding the Indian forces during the India-Pakistan 1971 war. Popularly called ‘Sam Bahadur’, he was the first Indian officer to be promoted to the rank of a field marshal. One of free India’s most successful commanders, his achievements lay as a military commander and as a leader. In fact, he remains a “lasting model of professional, upright conduct and command mystique”.
The shooting of the film will start in 2021.
