Director Shivam Nair has been planning a biopic on Uzma Ahmed’s life for over one and a half years now. As per the latest report, Shraddha has been finalized to play the nominal role in Uzma Ahmed’s biopic which is now in the making.
Uzma’s story is not just inspiring but also heart-wrenching. The film shall put light on her life as she falls in love with a guy named Tahir Ali, a taxi driver from Pakistan. She travels with him to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. But later realizes he is already married with four kids. It was then that she is forced to marry him on gunpoint. The film will show Uzma’s struggle to get free from this forceful marriage and how she was brought back to India.
Shraddha Kapoor to play Delhi girl Uzma Ahmed in her next film
Reportedly, Shivam Nair met Shraddha Kapoor and narrated the entire story to her. Subsequently, the actress agreed verbally to the maker and she shall sign on the dotted line as soon as she returns from Austria.
The report also says that she is the appropriate choice for the film. Moreover, the producer thinks that this will be a turning point of Shraddha’s career.
Apart from that, Saif Ali Khan will play the role of a diplomat JP Singh in the film while they are looking for another powerful actress who can play Sushma Swaraj’s role.
There are three primary characters in the project – that of Uzma, Indian politician Sushma Swaraj and JP Singh, India’s then Deputy High Commissioner in Islamabad
It is anticipated that the movie will go on floors around February-March next year.
