Waluscha De Sousa confirms she was a part of Inshallah but there is something more you need to know
Sanjay Leela Bhansali has left room for a whirlwind of speculation after he called off his ambitious project ‘Inshallah’ without citing any reasons. The film may not be happening but the drama surrounding it certainly refuses to die down.
After a flutter of reports speculated a rift between Salman Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the names of actresses Daisy Shah and Waluscha De Sousa were also dragged in.
The film may not be happening but the drama surrounding it certainly refuses to die down
It was rumoured that Salman Khan wanted Sanjay to cast these two actresses in Inshallah and since he did not want to do so, the film was called off. But here is a new update on this: Waluscha De Sousa who paired opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Fan has now confirmed that she was cast in Inshallah but definitely finds it hilarious that the film was called off because of her.
Waluscha opened up about the rumour and confirmed that she indeed was a part of Inshallah and her casting had nothing to do with Salman Khan
In an interview, when asked if she is aware of the rumour that names her as one of the reasons for ‘Inshallah’ being shelved, she said, “Let me get this right. No one can recommend anyone for a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film. You have to earn it! You get cast for a Bhansali Film, you don’t need to be pushed for it by anyone. So these reports of Salman Khan suggesting my name to Sanjay are utter rubbish!”
On being asked if she was a part of ‘Inshallah’ she said, “Yes. In fact, I had even given my dates for the film and my shoot was to begin in the second week of September. It is flattering and embarrassing at the same time to suggest that Inshallah didn’t happen because of me. I met Sanjay through Ashley (Rebello) who is also Salman’s stylist and designer.”
Walsucha also has a common connection with the filmmaker, and it’s Goa. To this, the actress added, “Also Sanjay and I connected because we have a common connect – Goa! Sanjay shot Khamoshi in Goa and I am from the same place, so we exchanged notes about it and bonded really well. He complimented my complexion and said how I was right for the part. My character was that of a Muslim woman, so he even told me that I should wear an Abaya and get into the skin of the character. Inshallah was a dream project for me simply because who wouldn’t want to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali.”
Moreover, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has decided that he will not go ahead with Inshallah as of now. The film has been indefinitely postponed and Salman is no longer a part of the film as well. After Bhansali productions made an official announcement, few reports suggested that SLB chose to not go ahead with the film as Salman recommended Walsucha De Sousa and Daisy Shah’s name over Alia Bhatt for Inshallah. However, there is no confirmation on that.
