Hotel Mumbai recounts the November 2008 siege of the famed Taj Hotel in Mumbai by a group of LeT terrorists
Hotel Mumbai is a 2018 Australian-American biographical thriller film directed by Anthony Maras and co-written by Maras and John Collee. The film is inspired by a 2009 documentary, Surviving Mumbai, which is based on the Mumbai attacks in 2008 at the Taj Palace Hotel. The film stars Dev Patel, Armie Hammer, Nazanin Boniadi, Anupam Kher, Tilda Cobham-Hervey, Jason Isaacs, Suhail Nayyar, Nagesh Bhosle, and Natasha Liu Bordizzo.

The Anthony Maras directorial was released in the United Kingdom on September 27. Sharing the news on its Twitter handle, Zee Studios and Purpose Entertainment announced the release date of the film on Friday. This is what the post read, “A 72-hour siege. 34 hotel staff. 1600 lives saved. Zee Studios & Purpose Entertainment will release their upcoming film #HotelMumbai, an incredible true story of bravery & courage, on November 22, 2019, in India.”
Actor Dev Patel plays Arjun, a newly promoted waiter. On the other hand, Armie Hammer and Nazanin Boniadi play David and Zahra, tourists and new parents. Jason Isaacs of Harry Potter-fame stars as a Russian businessman, Vasili. Apart from this, Anupam Kher will be seen as a chef in the famed hotel.
Premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival
Crime-thriller film ‘Hotel Mumbai’ premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, 2018. And later, the film had its Australian premiere at the Adelaide Film Festival on 10 October 2018. Subsequently, the film was released in Australia on March 14, 2019, and in the United States on March 22, 2019.
The film did not hit in the Indian entertainment world, despite its release date being set as 29 March initially. The film went mysteriously missing from the theatre listings. But, now finally the crime-thriller ‘Hotel Mumbai’ is all set to release in India on 22nd November in four languages, Hindi, English, Tamil, and Telugu.
