Bollywood actress Jaya Bachchan celebrates birthday with her family and friends
Today the Veteran actor Jaya Bachchan has turned 71 years old. There is no denying the fact that she is a force to reckon with in the Bollywood industry.
She is recognised as one of the finest Hindi film actresses of her time, particularly known for reinforcing a naturalistic style of acting in both ‘mainstream‘ and ‘middle-of-the-road‘ cinema.
She was among the top crop actresses in the Seventies and she is best-known for her role in films such as Guddi, Abhimaan, Zanjeer, Mili and Uphaar among others.
The star is an Indian film actress and a politician too. She is currently the Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha from the Samajwadi Party, notably serving four terms since 2004.
The actress is one introverted person essentially and not a fan of the paparazzi. She is happier when she is with her family.
On her birthday today Abhishek Bachchan, daughter Shweta Bachchan and other big actors posted pictures on social media to wish the actress.
Her son Abhishek Bachchan took to Instagram to wish his ‘Maa’. The actor shared a throwback picture of the Abhimaan actress and wrote, “Ma. The word says it all. Happy Birthday Ma. Love you.”

Abhishek in an interview talked about his relationship with her mother Jaya, “My relationship with Maa is that of a son and mother. Growing up, I didn’t like watching her films. It was only when I started training as an actor I saw her films and they were brilliant. It is fantastic to see her perform with so much ease.”
“With dad, I see his films as a fan. But with mom, I see it as my mother. If my mother cries on screen, I feel upset. My personal bond with her is so strong that transcends into the working space as well,” Abhishek added.
On her birthday, her daughter Shweta hosted a dinner party and she invited some of her mother’s close friends. The party was hosted in Tresind, a suburban Mumbai restaurant.
Paparazzi clicked pictures of the mother-daughter duo while they were exiting the restaurant. Jaya looked graceful in white while Shweta is seen in casual denims and t-shirt.
While Jaya Bachchan disdains the paparazzi culture. On this subject Karan Johar teased Abhishek Bachchan on his show and asked him what he felt about the hysterical videos of his mother online wherein she is firing, screaming, shouting at the papz. To which the actor said that it is his guilty pleasure to watch those videos.
Karan further asked him if it ever gets awkward for them to attend events together where they’d be clicked together. Jr Bachchan revealed that they silently pray and hope that there is no paparazzi in such a case!
Even her daughter, Shweta revealed the actual reason why Jaya Bachchan gets all worked up when the papz are around. “She’s claustrophobic,” she said.
She is the person who’d expect one to seek her permission before clicking her picture. The brother-sister duo also said that Jaya Bachchan has a ‘moral problem‘ with selfies.
