Sunny Deol’s dhai kilo ka hath might remove hand pump once again in ‘Gadar’ sequel
It has been 18 years since Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel-starrer Gadar: Ek Prem Katha hit the screens and broke all box office records. The political drama, directed by Anil Sharma, was based on a love story with the backdrop of the India-Pakistan partition. In the film, Sunny essayed the character of Tara (a Sikh truck driver) who falls in love with Ameesha’s character Sakina (a Muslim girl). Gadar also starred Amrish Puri and Lillette Dubey in key roles.

Moreover, Gadar film made on budget 80 crores and break all the box office records with the earings of rs. 132 crores at the box office.

Sunny told an entertainment portal in an interview that ‘Gadar’ is one of the most loved films by the Indian audience and he can’t just ruin people’s experience by announcing the second film in the franchise without any planning.
He said that for a film like ‘Gadar’, it’s important that there’s an even powerful storyline in place so that people don’t feel cheated. He took the example of Yamla Pagla Deewana (2011) that was carried forward as a franchise. However, the audience wasn’t impressed with the next two parts.

Sunny Deol said, “That would be beautiful if we can find a subject. There’s a lot of love for the Deols. YPD was an interesting concept but after the first film, we couldn’t get it right.”
The actor then went on to say that the Anil Sharma-directorial is like ‘Star Wars’ for him. “Gadar, for me, is like Star Wars, the whole country has seen it. People see it as an Indo-Pak drama, I see it as a beautiful love story. With a great subject, it could be big,” said Sunny.
Moreover, he is currently in the stages to launch his son Karan with ‘Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas’, which will feature debutante Sahher Bambba alongside the 28-year-old artist. The film slated to hit the big screen on 20th September this year.
