Deepika turns Draupadi
Deepika Padukone is collaborating with Madhu Mantena for Mahabharat, which is planned to be made in two parts- with the first part scheduled for a Diwali 2021
Confirming the news, Deepika Padukone told an entertainment portal, “I’m absolutely thrilled and honoured to be essaying the role of Draupadi. I truly believe that it is the role of a lifetime.”
She further said, “While the Mahabharat is popularly known for its mythological tales and cultural influence, many of life’s lessons are also derived from the Mahabharat but most often from its men. Telling it with this fresh and new perspective will not only be interesting but also very significant.”
Madhu Mantena said, “While we have all consumed the Mahabharat all our lives, the uniqueness of our film is seeing the same story from the point of view of Draupadi, who is one of the most significant heroines in our country’s cultural history.”
“And Deepika is not just the biggest Indian actress today, but someone who can take this narrative across borders. If it weren’t with her, we would not be making this film on such an ambitious scale,” he added.
On the Work Front
Interestingly, the talented actress also co-produced the film, and it will mark her second film as a producer. Earlier, Deepika Padukone produced Meghna Gulzar’s ‘Chhapaak’. But, it will clash with Ajay Devgn and Kajol Starrer ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Hero’.
On the other hand, Deepika Padukone will be seen sharing screen space with hubby Ranveer Singh in ‘83’. The film will chronicle the heroic journey of the Indian cricket team for winning the 1983 World Cup. It is produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri, Sajid Nadiadwala and Madhu Mantena and is scheduled to hit the screens on April 10, 2020.
