The very talented Deepika Padukone will be soon seen in ‘Chhapaak’. The film is based on the acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal.
Deepika Padukone is one of the best actresses we have in Bollywood. The actress was last seen in Padmaavat and now the beautiful Deepika is all set to create her magic in ‘Chhapaak’. The film is directed by Meghna Gulzar and the film is based on real-life acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal. The film features Vikrant Massey alongside Deepika.
The film was an emotional journey for the entire team of Chhapaak, especially for Deepika Padukone
When the makers of the film released the first poster of the film, Deepika received praise from everyone. The character name of Deepika in the film as an acid attack survivor is Malti. Undoubtedly, Deepika had to sit for hours to transform into Malti with the use of prosthetics.
Chhappak : Deepika Padukone burn the Prosthetics
In an interview, when Deepika was asked about the role which impacted her the most, she took the name ‘Chhappak’ and said, “I literally had to burn the piece of prosthetics that I was wearing on the last day of the shoot. Because it impacted me in a way that I never experienced before. That was my way of trying at least to let go of everything that I experienced.”
Deepika Padukone further said, “I literally burnt it. Prosthetics are expensive, we get charged per piece of prosthetics that the artist makes. But I took a call as a producer, I said I don’t care, I need to heal emotionally.”
Deepika Padukone went on to say, “It takes about 2-3 days to prepare one piece. On the last day of the shoot, I gave my makeup artist a heads up that I need an extra piece. She made one and the day we finished, I remember taking the piece, taking some alcohol, went into a corner, poured the alcohol on it and set it on fire. I stood there watching it burn until it had disappeared completely in front of me.”
The actor concluded by saying, “I don’t think it left my system entirely but that vision of the piece burning is stuck in my head. It affected me in a way that no other movie has before.”
For those who don’t know, Deepika Padukone is not only headlining the project but also producing it as well. The film is slated to hit the theatres on 10th January 2020.
Apart from ‘Chhapaak’, Deepika Padukone will be seen in ’83’ as well opposite her husband Ranveer Singh.
