Ayushmann Khurrana, who has finished his upcoming film Dream Girl, revealed details about how he modulated his voice for the character.
This year must be a very happy year for actor Ayushmann Khurrana as he recently won the first national film award for his film Andhadhun. Ayushmann Khurrana, who is riding high on commercial and critical success, has now finished the last-minute dubbing for Raaj Shaandilyaa’s directorial venture ‘Dream Girl’. He will be essaying the role of a small-town guy in the film, who has the ability to speak in the voices of different women.

Ayushmann Khurrana about Dream Girl, I laughed out loud during the narration
In an interview, Ayushmann reveals how he felt when he first heard the script of Dream Girl and what made him sign the film. “I laughed out loud during the narration,” Ayushmann Khurrana said to a source. Ayushmann adds that by far Dream Girl has been the funniest script he ever heard. The Vicky Donor actor further said that this character is something which no mainstream actor in Bollywood has ever played before. “None of the mainstream actors have played a role like this, but I love doing tricky stuff though I was scared to wear a saree on first day. It got easier as went along though I still don’t know how to drape one. But eventually, it’s all about how you internalise the character and get the body language right,” he added further.
Ayushmann also throws light on the character he plays and says it’s a first even for him. “That’s a first even for me, I have three to four different looks. The protagonist’s ability to speak in both male and female voices is the film’s core,” he adds. Dream Girl will have Ayushmann Khurrana playing Sita in Ram Leela, a glimpse of which we got to see in the trailer released recently.
The actor spilled the beans on how he modulated his voice for the preparation of his character in the film. “I had to deliver 25 percent of my dialogues in a woman’s voice. Since I come from a radio background, it’s easier for me to modulate my voice. I have spent years behind the mic, mimicking different people. Raaj had given me the references of a few men, who prank people by talking like a woman. I studied those videos extensively,” he said.
Ayushmann Khurrana will share screen space with Nushrat Bharucha in Raaj Shaandilyaa’s Dream Girl. It also stars Fukrey actor Manjot Singh as Khurrana’s best friend.
Ayushmann Khurrana was last seen in Article 15, which was directed by Anubhav Sinha. Moreover, Ayushmann Khurrana will be seen in Gulabo-Sitabo.
