Be safe!! Grocery store aisles might not be the place for you in the COVID-19 times.
A study from a group of researchers in Finland has shown how the dynamics of a grocery shopping complex might have a higher chance of retaining aerosol particles which might be from a random person that went there 2 days back.
Avoid Crowds at All Cost
Let’s assume a person sneezes in an aisle in the shopping complex. Due to the anatomy of the surroundings, those airborne droplets will dilute and increase the risk of anyone close in the vicinity to catch the infection.

Study of Indoor Spaces
A lot of thought was put in by scientists from the Finnish Meteorological Institute, University of Helsinki the VTT Technical Research Centre. The research was done by creating a stimulus from a supercomputer that focuses on the spread of viral particles.

This stimulus showed the process from head to its toe. From the sneeze and cough that oozes out of one’s respiratory tract to how does it behave in the close surroundings which finally leads to another close-by person being affected by the following.
What can happen?
Because of a being a small crowded space aka the shopping complex with aisles lined up as big pieces of domino, a regular sneeze or cough by any person has very low chances of settling down to the ground. Instead, it sticks to those aisles and triggers a chain of events which leads to those particles being suspended in the air for a longer duration of time.
Hence, such places are a hotspot for catching any respiratory disease. So, in these times, it is not a wise decision to step into any of these places. Shopping in open places has considerably lower chances of you contracting the coronavirus (COVID-19).
How can you dodge it?
The media, the government officials and the WHO are doing their best to put this into your head. Stay home and even minimalize your visits for essentials as much as you can. Remember, you’re not doing this for just you and your family but the whole world. Follow the guidelines ruled out by the WHO and hope for the best.
Countless hardworking doctors have put their lives on the line for humanity. You can do the same by staying home. Think about it!
