- The Vicious Circle of Media-Attacks-Trump, Trump-Attacks-Media
- Why it Needs to End
In a recent incident at the White House Donald Trump attacked the intense scrutiny of the media reporters about his performance as the President in America’s testing times.
“Everything we did was right,” said Trump in defence over his negative media coverage, as reported by the CNN Politics.
During the Thursday briefing, Donald Trump attacked a media reporter from Washington Post for asking, whether it was dangerous for him to make people think they would be safe by going outside in summer heat? On reporters pressing the President retorted:
“I’m the president and you’re fake news …
Going over his early media ‘attacks’, Trump didn’t seem to hold back. Whether it’s telling NBC’s Peter Alexander that he’s a ‘terrible reporter’ for asking a question on the virus fears or telling PBS News reporter Yamiche Alcindor to ‘be nice’, Trump has constantly unleashed his wrath on the reporters who are just voicing the thoughts and concerns of the citizens.
According to Business Insider, many journalists have backed out from attending the recent press briefings as they don’t seem to hold any ‘news value’ anymore. Instead of serious talk, Trump is choosing to throw tantrums that are reminiscent of the earlier days of his presidency. And long before that for sure.
At a time when public health is a major concern, lack of empathy for both the citizens and a war on media is not a solution. Not to mention when he downplayed the crisis in the initial stages and made light of the situation where it started to take the wrong turn. And now Trump wants America to reopen irrespective of how dangerous it could be for the people.
Instead of Trump Administration and media working in unison, their relationship is chaotic, to say the least.
Why It Needs to End
A collected and serious response from their leader can go a long way to tone down the worries and anxiety of people. Everyone can use a message of hope based on logic amid the situation where physical and mental health is at stake.
A positive and reasonable relationship between Trump and media is important to maintain some semblance of sanity as the healthcare heroes fight this war on the frontlines.
The media has the power to keep peace in conflict. They give voice to thousands and millions of people out-there by reaching out to the ones in the position of power and demanding answers that we all need to hear.
It is not to say that they can’t disrupt the same peace, but if done well, it has the immense power to set things right as well. So it’s imperative for America’s future that this Donald Trump’s Vs Fake News war ends soon.
