There is nothing in the DC Universe that Superman is scared of. Nevertheless, there came a time when Superman felt the need to self-quarantine. Here’s how the story unfolded.
When Superman’s head is loaded, he annoys the heck out of Batman.
Why Superman went into Quarantine?
In the comic adaptation of Superman/Batman in 2004, scientists detect a rogue piece of the planet Krypton. It was on a collision course with Earth. So although Earth’s superheroes manage to destroy the heavenly body, it exploded into many multi-coloured shards that rained down throughout the globe.
Needless to say, that turned out a bummer for Superman who then had to go into quarantine and away from Earth to save himself from the effects of Kryptonite, the only matter in the entire universe he is vulnerable to. As a result, for Superman’s safety and for also the mankind’s, the Man of Steel agrees to stay in quarantine.
Lessons to Learn from Superman
In the DC universe, Superman is a symbol of Hope. Even though he was not born on Earth, he grew up here and became many things for the people of the Special Planet – Their Saviour, Idol, Superhero, and HOPE. But when that he is in danger, he necessarily can’t save the planet.
Superman decided to go to the Fortress of Solitude to regain his strength.
The Fortress of Solitude is a secret location that is known to Superman’s closest allies such as Lois Lane and Batman. Superman self-isolated himself there until Earth was cleared off Kryptonite.
Eventually, his prudent social distancing keeps the Earthlings safe from future threats.
That is a lesson from Superman on the importance of quarantine. As we all are going through a similar situation, needing to adapt our lifestyles to staying self-isolated and in-quarantine.
Self-Isolate to Save the World
In the meantime, Superman was taking shifts to monitor accountability and going out for essential tasks. However, when Superman found it easy to solely sit still and let other superheroes save the world, he wouldn’t be Superman. And eventually, he calls Batman and asks him if he can go out of the Fortress of Solitude.
Batman says No. To which Superman pushes and says that there should be one factor that he could possibly be doing. To this, Batman insists and I quote, “You already are doing it”
Eventually, Batman threatens to tell Lois Lane what a pain in the head he is being and that made Superman stop asking to leave the Fortress.
So, that’s how Superman again saves the world even though he worked from home.
We all need to be Superman in our own right during these testing times. By understanding our responsibility and keeping social distance, not going out of our houses, work from home.
That is the only way we can fight off this deadly coronavirus and that’s lesson 101 from Superman on the importance of self-isolation and quarantine.
