Nina Dobrev aka Elena Gilbert’s romance with Salvatore brothers
Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, and Paul Wesley played the role of lead characters in ‘The Vampire Diaries’. Actress Nina played the role of Elena Gilbert who had affection for the Salvatore brother, Damon & Stefan. The CW’s teen drama has always been adored by the viewers. However, the 31-year-old actress revealed in one of her interviews that she always hated one of her co-stars and that is none other than Paul Wesley who portrayed Stefan Salvatore in the series.
According to Nina, all the affection they had on-screen was totally fake because it was acting and she actually hated him. The actress appeared on theDirectionally Challenged podcast and revealed the details about it. Nina said, “Paul and I didn’t get along at the beginning of the show. I respected Paul Wesley but I didn’t like Paul Wesley”. Further, Dobrev added, “I remember everyone would walk up to me after the show aired and they’d be like, ‘Are you and Paul dating in real life?’ Everyone thought that we had such good chemistry”.

For those who aren’t aware, Nina Dobrev was not the only one who hated Paul Wesley. Paul Wesley too hated her. Nina said, “I realize now that there’s a fine line between love and hate and we despised each other so much that it read as love. We really just didn’t get along the first five months of shooting”.
Paul aka Stefan actually admitted that he and Nina didn’t like each other on ‘The Vampire Diaries’ set.Talking to Entertainment Tonight, Paul said he and Nina basically started out as nemeses and agreed with what Nina said about how they “despised” each other for a long time. He explained, “When we first started shooting ‘The Vampire Diaries’, we totally clashed. We didn’t get along. Creatively, it just wasn’t in sync”.
Further, he added that even though they were driving each other crazy on sets, later they both developed mutual love after a few seasons. After working together for a few times, Nina and Paul shared a good bond and became close friends. In fact, he sort of credits their hate-to-tolerate-to-love relationship for being the reason why their friendship is as strong as it is today.
