Emilia Clarke talks about her awful experiences
Emilia Clarke, in an interview with The New Yorker, got candid about her incredible and challenging journey in Game of Thrones. She admitted that she suffered two debilitating brain injuries while filming the first two seasons. It could have ended her career and life. “I had just finished filming season 1 of Game of Thrones, then I was stuck with the first of two aneurysms”.

Why Emilia hasn’t fully recovered
Emilia revealed that she was working out with her trainer in London when she experienced a painful headache that felt like an elastic band which was squeezing her brain. Further, she said, the pain eventually became so intense that she had to almost crawl and became “violently, voluminously ill”.
“Meanwhile, the pain — shooting, stabbing, constricting pain —was getting worse. At some level, I knew what was happening: my brain was damaged,” she said. After she was admitted, she got to know that she is diagnosed with SAH, a subarachnoid hemorrhage, an uncommon type of stroke caused by bleeding on the surface of the brain. She explained, “If I was to live and avoid terrible deficits, I would need urgent surgery. And, even then, there were no guarantees.” However, she went to surgery and spent almost two weeks recovering.
The surgery wasn’t entirely successful and Emilia could not remember her name after suffering from a condition known as aphasia — when a person has difficulty with their language or speech caused by damage to the left side of the brain.
