The former ‘Orange Is the New Black’ actress Ruby Rose made history by portraying the first gay character to lead a live-action superhero series ‘Batwoman’. The actress received immense love and appreciation for portraying the character of Kate Kane aka ‘Batwoman’. However, Ruby Rose will not continue into season 2 of ‘Batwoman’. Ruby Rose explains why she quit ‘Batwoman’ after one season
Ruby Rose is exiting ‘Batwoman’ after one season. While the actress is stepping down from the role of Kate Kane, the series will continue into season 2 with a new actress. But one thing is clear that there are lots of fans of Ruby Rose’s who are heartbroken right now and it would be hard for them to see another actress at her place.
Lately, the actress explained why she had to leave Batwoman after one season back in May. In a chat with “Entertainment Weekly”, Rose revealed that her back injury contributed to her leaving the show. Also, the pandemic led her to re-evaluate her decision to either remain or leave the series.
“Being the lead of a superhero show is tough. Being the lead in anything is tough. But I think, in that particular instance, it was a lot more difficult because I was still recovering from my surgery. I had my surgery and then 10 days later I went to work, which maybe wasn’t the best idea. Most people take about a month or three off before they return to work”.
Further, she added how the current situation played an important role in her decision to leave ‘Batwoman’. That’s not it! Ruby mentioned that she just needs a break to fully heal and then she’ll surely make a return on television.

Injury is not the only reason behind Ruby Rose’ shocking departure
According to Ruby Rose, one of the biggest reasons for her quitting the show is definitely her injury which she had while shooting for the series. However, injury is not the only reason which forced Rose to leave the show. There’s something more!
A “TV line” report suggests that things behind the scene were far from peachy. “It wasn’t 100 percent her decision”, a source claimed. “It was a breakup. She wasn’t happy working on the show and did that make her fun to work with? No, so everyone decided it would be in the best for the show if they parted ways. It just wasn’t a good fit”.
According to an insider, Rose left the show because of the long working hours that the role demanded. It wasn’t easy for her to manage other projects as well.
