Why Chris Evans Turned Down The Offer To Play Captain America?
For the fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it seems simply impossible to imagine another actor portraying the role of Captain America. But that’s what nearly happened! When it was time to cast the role, Chris Evans turned down the offer. Currently, he is and surely will be forever known as Captain America. But when the offer first landed onto him, he declined the role repeatedly.
Chris Evans’ mother Lisa Capuano Evans spilled the beans in an interview with Esquire. She revealed that her son Chris denied being a part of Marvel’s Captain America. Lisa explained that “His biggest fear was losing his anonymity“. According to Lisa, Chris told her, “I have a career now where I can do work I really like. I can walk my dog. Nobody bothers me. Nobody wants to talk to me. I can go wherever I want. And the idea of losing that is terrifying to me.”
Further, his mother revealed that Chris always asks for her opinion and advice. And thus she advised him that this opportunity would give him the opportunity to work as an actor for the rest of his life.
Well, we must say thanks to Chris Evans’ mother Lisa Capuano Evans for advising him to be a part of MCU for he is the ‘Captain America’ that we could have never got otherwise.
