Annie Murphy’s audition for Schitt’s Creek
Annie Murphy revealed that her life changed after she secured an audition for Schitt’s Creek. In her own words—”I auditioned for Alexis and I got a call from Daniel Levy after my first audition, asking me to also audition for Stevie Budd and I ended up testing for both of those ladies and it was super fun to be able to play different characters.”
The Call of Life
After giving the auditions Murphy thought she had lost the opportunity as she was already pretty down on her luck. Eventually, she started doubting her choices. Murphy said she was sure “that ship had sailed”. But destiny had something else in its mind. One day, Murphy’s phone rang and she reacted in an unexpected way: “I was so scared that I didn’t pick up the phone, I finally mustered up the courage to call back and it was Dan Levy on the other hand.”
According to Schitt’s Creek actress, Annie Murphy, Dan Levy started the conversation by thanking her for her time. This was followed by a question for Murphy: ‘How would you like to play my sister on the show?’ That was a “truly life-changing moment” for the actress. “I was standing outside of a friend’s house…in the rain and—it was like those words changed my life entirely.”
