The butt cleavage trend is absurd but has kept its roots dug deep into the pop-culture — here’s wondering why female celebrities miserably fail to rock the fashion disaster ‘butt cleavage’.
I can’t wrap my head around that butt cleavage trend. I mean what’s the point of short-shorts, or what’s wrong with the perfectly covered hips? In the past decade, we have seen many bizarre fashion trends like camel toe, ripped stockings, barely their jeans, spike and fade away but butt cleavage stayed. And interestingly also developed a political backbone in the ‘body positive’ Instagram world. Nonetheless, it soon sneaked into the pop culture. Now you see? It makes sense but the sight of it… really?
So, what exactly is Butt Cleavage?
Known by many names butt cleavage, intergluteal cleft, booty cleavage, ass cleavage is simply the crease between your buttocks, the starting of your butt crack. One accidentally exposes it while bending over especially, in low rise jeans. In an evolution of this showing off your plumber crack trend, Gen Z also added the under butt in the same boat which explains the short shorts.
What is the Butt Cleavage Trend?
The most notable initiation of butt cleavage on the ramp was in Alexander McQueen’s 1994 collection where ‘bumster’ trousers stole the show! The trouser rode so low on the pubic bone that the back of exposed the most shocking degree of the bare ass crack at the time. McQueen told The Guardian in 1996, “It wasn’t about showing the bum.”
To me, that part of the body—not so much the buttocks, but the bottom of the spine—that’s the most erotic part of anyone’s body, man or woman.
Alexander McQueen
At the dawn of millennia, celebrities like Paris Hilton and pop-star Britney Spears can be blamed to take butt cleavage mainstream. The erogenous new trend took a dip in the following years but in this decade crept back even undermining the notorious ‘side boob’ trend.
Are We Done With The Boob Cleavage Trend Then?
NO! While butt cleavage can dethrone side boob and under boob trend – it can never replace the ancient sexy supreme boob cleavage trend celebrities rock. God, it’s the only cleavage trend that makes sense when you think about trends like camel toe, hip cleavage, toe cleavage, leg cleavage, male cleavage and what not!
Is Butt Cleavage Body Positive?
Also, let’s talk about the ‘political roots’ that the trend has found on social media. Across the globe, women get to decide how and what they want to flaunt. Some take to flaunt their ass crack others the under butt – but in both the cases the flaunting of their most erogenous zone has also become a way of rebelling – stating my body, my right to express my sexuality! #MyBodyMyRules
Further, in the age of social media, however, the butt crack trend is EVERYWHERE. Thanks to celebrities like Kylie Jenner, Kim along with other Kardashian sisters brought it back to social media. (Pointing out the Paris-Kim connection here in case you missed it!)And very creatively so! Kylie Jenner slashed the back of her jeans to beat the California heat and in turn, added to the trend on social media.
Now you see the moral conundrum of this writer? So, while I still wrap my head around this bizarre yet beautiful trend here are 13 celebrities who donned but lost the butt crack cleavage trend.
