In a bid to help budding entrepreneurs embrace the idea of technology to grow their startups lightning-fast, TiE Global Summit hosted a knowledge session where Cloud Technology veteran Irina Ghose of Microsoft and NASSCOM’s Kritika M indulged in an insightful session on the essential role that enterprise tech can play in the growth of startups.
Today, new technologies are rapidly being introduced into the market and endorsed by corporates and consumers. Moreover, the time taken by a new form of technology to be a mainstream adoption has decreased substantially. At the forefront of the technological evolution of SMEs and start-ups are cloud-based solutions. Without a doubt, cloud solution providers are helping usher in large-scale growth for the startup ecosystem, especially tech-based startups.
Aiming to help entrepreneurs understand how they can leverage cloud and other enterprise technology solutions to make their business models more proficient and profitable, TiE Global Summit 2020, the world’s largest entrepreneurial summit, assembled highly experienced technical experts to delve deep into the topic.
Anchored by technology industry veteran Mr. BS Rao, VP-Marketing, CtrlS Datacenters and Cloud4C, the session titled “Microsoft for Start Ups and Fast-growing Enterprises” witnessed Ms. Irina Ghose, Executive Director for Cloud Solutions, Microsoft and Ms. Kritika M, Director of NASSCOM’s 10000 Startups initiative shared their knowledge and insights for the benefit of the 20,000+ peers in attendance at the TiE Global Summit.
Microsoft for Start Ups and Fast-growing Enterprises
The session began on point focusing on the big question – “What role can Technology play in Enhancing the Growth of Startups”. NASSCOM’s Ms. Kritika M shared at length about the initiatives of NASSCOM and how the organization is supporting tech startups. She stressed on the need for mentoring rather than only enabling startup founders in the present-day scenario. She said, “Through the NASSCOM 10000 Startups initiative, we have till now helped more than 6,500 startups bringing to them the best of mentoring, business and technological expertise.”
Microsoft’s Irina Ghose elaborated on how Microsoft is helping startups realize their challenges and overcome them by leveraging its cloud service Azure. She emphasized on Azure’s innovation, reliability, and cost-effectiveness as a cloud service provider. She further explained how Microsoft is integrating startups into its ecosystem and collaborating with them on multiple dimensions – from content creation to tech enablement.
She highlighted security, privacy, and compliance as key factors in the credibility of startups today. She said, “Through its “Business effective drivers” Microsoft is trying to “turn everything remote [or automate everything] to enable rapid growth for startups”
Startup Pain Points that Technology can Solve
Talking about the pain points that startups face, Ms. Kritika M stated that there are three challenges at the top of every startup list – 1) Access to talent (skill-sets), 2) Funding (“is a mixed game”), and 3) Access to deep tech-mentoring.
On the other hand, Ms. Ghose divulged on Microsoft’s role in helping startups overcome these challenges, going on to explain how the global technology and software giant is letting startups leverage its widespread expertise and resources via its new and ongoing programs, taking the enterprise-startup collaboration to a whole new level. From communicating to security components to reliability to cost-effectiveness, she mentioned how Microsoft is helping startups be more compliant. Concluding the session, Ms. Ghose compared the TiE Global Summit to a religious meet of sorts for entrepreneurs and start-up founders, going on to present three mantras for fast growth. She said, “These three mantras chalk out the roadmap for startups by Microsoft – Tech-intensity raised to the power of trust; Solutions for Cloud and on the Edge; and Data and Artificial Capability brought together.”
