When the virus sent the economy into hiding, leading remote support solution TeamViewer enabled millions of Indian businesses, big and small, to restructure process in days to ensure business continuity in the crisis hit months ahead.
The pandemic came as a Catch-22 situation for IT Heads of companies. While their prominence in the business models grew unimaginably, they were presented with an unprecedented task of ensuring connectivity streamlined for perpetual remote operations. The role of Remote Connectivity Platforms like TeamViewer in enabling businesses amid the COVID-19 era is pivotal.
In an exclusive interview, Krunal Patel, Director and Head of Business, India and South Asia, TeamViewer, shares the company’s pandemic experience – from ensuring optimized remote operations to heading the new Phygital way of doing business.
With the business world going completely virtual, how did TeamViewer help clients ensure business continuity?
TeamViewer is continually innovating, with the mission of connecting anything and anyone, anytime and anywhere. Our solutions are simple, secure, and scalable. In the current scenario, companies are exploring solutions for working remotely, and to support employees working from home.
TeamViewer, with its secure remote connectivity platform, enabled various customers in India to perform their work from home, and meet remote support requirements.
If I have to quote an example, a large conglomerate selected TeamViewer after a detailed evaluation for working remotely. We enabled around 900 users to work from anywhere in less than one week, even though they are using processor intensive applications involving design and engineering.
What new capabilities have you brought in to make your solutions more viable in the current environment?
TeamViewer Tensor enables remote working to be seamless and secure. The solution offers a holistic approach to security at the user, network, and application level. With integrations including Automated Deployment (AD) and Single Sign On (SSO) and with comprehensive audits plus reporting, companies are comfortable with using TeamViewer remote access.

We also saw new use cases on TeamViewer Pilot, our AR based video support solution, with a factory acceptance test and product demo, along with our standard-use cases of manufacturing floor support or field engineering support.
What have been the major strains for businesses as they adapt to operations in the era of distancing?
Basically, in the given times, IT leaders and business leaders are challenged in various areas. The primary objective is to keep the business running and, if possible, profitable, while they tackle the technical challenge for their employees working from home.
How is TeamViewer overcoming these issues for businesses across industries?
Lots of our customers are effectively using TeamViewer solutions to work remote and keep up business continuity. We make it as easy as possible to let employees work from anywhere while being securely connected to the business network, without the amount of training other solutions require. We are aware that Cashflow is another important topic for companies, hence we are packaging our solutions in a way that can accommodate the current business challenges.
What are TeamViewer’s long-term plans for India? Do you have any new offerings in the pipeline?
We are constantly focusing on our customers challenges. We have a fully functional local entity and a support center in India to assist our customers. This is our commitment to the country and region. We are continuously working to get our globally proven products to the Indian region, which has its own unique strengths and requirements.
