Spotify is finally in India!
Music streaming platform spotify has launched its service in India, with so many features tuned for Indian music fans. It’s launch follow the company’s recent expansion across MENA and south East Asia, bringing the total number of spotify markets to 79 with 207 million users, the company said. In India, the app is available for free download or with an upgrade to its premium for INR 119 per month.
The service, with its new features and custom recommendations for the Indian listeners, will seek to compete with existing players including Amazon Music, Gaana and Saavn, among others.
The pricing of this service starts at INR 119 per month for premium members. Similar to Apple Music, there is an option for prepaid subscriptions, and student discounts as well.
As its explains in its blog, some of the exclusive features include multi-language music recommendations, songs-on-demand in Spotify Free, India-specific playlists, actors-based curated playlists and city-based playlists which plays new algorithmic playlists based on what is trending in which city.
This service it has more than 200 million users, including more than 87 million paid subscribers
