Galaxy S10 launch set for February 20 as Samsung sends invite for Unpacked event
THE GALAXY S10 looks set to be Samsung’s most interesting smartphone yet, with talk of 5G support, an in-display fingerprint scanner and a ludicrous quad-camera setup and some rumors speculate that there could be as many as four Galaxy S10 models, including an ‘ultra-premium’ Plus-branded variant and a cut-price ‘budget’ version.
Samsung has confirmed its Unpacked event will take place on Wednesday, February 20 in San Francisco, where the company is expected to unveil the rumored Galaxy S10, S10 Lite, and S10+ flagship phones.
Interestingly, the Unpacked event takes place a week before MWC which is where Samsung typically announces its new S device. Samsung’s invite prominently features the number 10 which is not only indicative of the S10 but also the tenth anniversary of the Galaxy series.
The foldable phone has already been delayed after Samsung initially said customers should expect a launch in 2018. Samsung showed a prototype of the foldable phone in November. The phone folds open to act more like a tablet.
Samsung moved up its launch date for its S10 series in order to preempt Huawei’s expected unveiling of a foldable-screen competitor at a Barcelona trade show in late February, as per the report.
