The virtual TiE Global Summit, which gathers 20000+ entrepreneurs and 200+ global investors, was inaugurated in the presence of eminent dignitaries who congratulated and encouraged participants for being part of a path-breaking initiative in the growth of the Indian entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The mega virtual entrepreneurial summit was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri Venkaiah Naidu, in the eminent presence of Shri Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Minister of MSMEs, Government of India, and Shri K. T. Rama Rao, Hon’ble Minister for IT MA&UD, Telangana Government, alongside Mr. Manohar Reddy, Vice President, TiE Hyderabad and Mr. Mahavir Sharma, Chair, TiE Global. Mr. Sridhar Pinnapureddy, President, TiE Hyderabad and Founder, CtrlS Datacenters coordinated the grand opening session.
Encouraging words from Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Minister for Road Transport & Highways guided the Summit into momentum. On the importance of entrepreneurship to the Indian MSME sector, Mr. Gadkari said, “The MSME sector is responsible for almost 30 percent of the GDP, 40 percent of the exports and 11 crore jobs, rightly being the backbone of the Indian economy.” He elaborated on the Indian Government’s plans to increase the current MSME contribution from 30 to 40 percent in GDP, 40 to 60 percent in export and the objective to create 5 Crore more jobs. Gadkari further spoke about the investment and development in the agriculture, rural and tribal areas. He spoke about the handicraft and handloom sector of the country and how the artisans have a chance for global exposure. He said, “India has a huge potential in terms of investments in agriculture, rural and tribal areas that are currently facing social and economic crisis. The world needs to see the infrastructural developments and wonderful opportunities that India presents.”
Speaking about India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Mission and its focus on giving entrepreneurs an easily accessible ecosystem, Mr. Gadkari concluded, “With positivity and commitment to Aatma Nirbhar Bharat, the Entrepreneurial community can help India can win the war against frustration that COVID-19 has brought in.”
Building on the MSME Minister’s encouraging words, Hon’ble Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu said “India has the highest population of youth in the world. This 64 percent youth population needs to be tapped to promote entrepreneurship so that they can become job creators rather than seekers.” Mr. Naidu spoke about the importance of building an ecosystem to promote and support entrepreneurs. He emphasized on the belief that the corporate sector needs to promote and mentor budding entrepreneurs at university level, “There’s a need to promote talent in schools and universities. In India’s huge population, we have an untapped talent pool that needs to be nourished with ideas, knowledge and leadership.”

Minister of MA&UD, Industries and IT&C of Telangana, the home state for TiE Global Summit 2020, K. T. Rama Rao congratulated TiE for its support in making Hyderabad a city of entrepreneurs. He said, “TiE and Telangana government’s efforts have helped in creating an ecosystem for entrepreneurs that incubates, accelerates and promotes their growth.”
Rounding up the grand opening ceremony, Mr. Manohar Reddy, Committee Member, TiE Global Summit and TiE Global Chair Mr. Mahavir Sharma expressed gratitude to the eminent personalities and thanked the audience for making the TiE Global Summit 2020 the largest entrepreneurial summit in the world. They assured the dignitaries that TiE would focus on giving back to the startup community, mentoring entrepreneurs by providing incubators and accelerator programs. The 3-day long event will provide stakeholders and young entrepreneurs networking opportunities and knowledge to build successful business and an excellent ecosystem.
