An Exclusive Interview with Christie Digital spokesperson Mr. Rishubh Nayar, National Sales Manager, Enterprise.
Christie Digital Systems USA, Inc. is a global visual and audio technologies company and a wholly owned subsidiary of Ushio Inc., Japan.
Christie revolutionized the movie industry with the launch of digital cinema projection, and since 1929 has embraced innovation and broken many technology barriers.
From the world’s largest mega-events to the smallest applications, Christie’s technology from advanced RGB pure laser and SDVoE technology to image processing and LED display solutions empowers people to create the world’s best shared experiences.
DKODING: How different is the Indian market from other major locations you are present?
Rishubh Nayar: The biggest difference is the varied demographics within the region; it’s really not one region but at least 4 regions within a region. Christie has been operating in India for more than a decade, and it is a one of our key markets in the Asia Pacific region.
As such, we work very hard to ensure that effective feedback is provided to Product Managers, which in turn keep the same in mind while launching new products.
We have recently launched the Christie Core Series LED specifically for the Indian market. Available in a range of pixel pitches, Core Series video walls are ideal for smaller-scale fixed installs and digital signage applications or larger projects where price is a factor.
DKODING: Christie operating majorly in UK, US, China and Japan regions, which demography or state are you going to target in India?
Rishubh Nayar: Christie is a global visual and audio technologies company that embraced innovation and broken many technology barriers since its founding in 1929.
From the world’s largest mega-events to the smallest applications, our technology, from advanced RGB pure laser and SDVoE technology to image processing and LED display solutions, empowers people to create the world’s best shared experiences.
In India, we target every state with predominantly growth taking place in cities such as Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, and Hyderabad.
DKODING: Do you believe there is a lack of knowledge in India around such technologies? Do you have any awareness programs?
Rishubh Nayar: Our customers and resellers in India are very well educated and completely on par with the global standards required in our industry. There is no lack of knowledge, and we conduct regular sales and technical training sessions for our channel partners so that they can stay abreast with the latest technologies, developments and trends.
DKODING: What kind of potential do you see in the Indian market? What’s your go-to market strategy? What sectors are you planning to target in near future?
Rishubh Nayar: The Indian market is growing at a rapid pace, and we rely on the strengths of our channel partners as a go-to strategy and support them with the requisite tools so that they can be successful in the marketplace.
Christie has achieved much success in the Indian market over the years and we have had some many firsts in India, such as the spectacular projection mapping show on the Statue of Unity the tallest statue in the world, which was accomplished using 51 Christie Crimson 3DLP® laser projectors. Moving forward, the top 3 sectors that we are targeting are corporate, government, and entertainment.
DKODING: Do you think India has a favourable business environment to grow?
Rishubh Nayar: Barring an economic slowdown which we are seeing currently and with the measures that the Indian government is putting in place to correct it, I believe the economy will see a rebound and return to healthy growth levels. Christie continues to see robust growth in the Indian market.
Going forward, we anticipate sustained growth in key cities such as New Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai and Bangalore that I have mentioned earlier. These are the places that the larger chunk of investments will go to.
But having said that, what’s driving the change are investments that are increasingly flowing to Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, where convention centers, entertainment and cultural amenities such as museums are being built.
As well, new multinational companies are setting up their offices in India and these are possibly the biggest opportunities in the coming year.
DKODING: What are your thoughts on the future of the Indian IT sector and the part played by your company, Christie?
Rishubh Nayar: The Indian IT sector continues to be one of the most buoyant sectors in our economy and we always endeavour to provide the most innovative visual and processing technologies for leading IT companies in India.
For example, when a German IT giant wanted to share knowledge and information with its stakeholders at its facility in Bangalore, it turned to our award-winning Christie® Velvet™ LED tiles to light up their main lobby with flair.
The result is a spectacular video wall made up of 153 Christie Velvet Merit Series 3mm LED tiles. Not only does the seamless HD display offer an incredible 100,000 hours of service life, the 17 x 9 module installation size also allows for a spectacular display wall that’s both seamless and long lasting.
The facility’s auditorium and cafeteria have also been fitted with six Christie HS Series 1DLP® laser projectors to deliver bright and high-quality images.
DKODING: Is there any product in the pipeline for next year?
Rishubh Nayar: We have had many launches this year, such as the Christie D4K40-RGB pure laser projector, Christie MicroTiles LED, Christie APS Series 3LCD laser projectors, and Christie Core Series LED.
We are also looking forward to new additions to our Christie Crimson Series family of products, which is expected to be launched in the later part of the year.
DKODING: What is your message for prospective clients?
Rishubh Nayar: I look forward to working with new clients to offer our full range of visual and image processing solutions that empower them to deliver high quality, innovative, shared experiences.
As for our existing clients, I would like to thank and express my gratitude to them for allowing our products to be used in several landmark installs across India (including Dhauli Shanti Stupa in Bhubaneswar, Jung-e-Azadi Memorial in Punjab, Konark Sun Temple in Odisha, and GTB Memorial in Delhi) and trusting in our products and solutions for the last 90 years.
