Coca Cola is launching a new range called Signature Mixers that you can mix with dark spirits
In a first for a global brand, four new flavours are launching. All the flavours have been specially designed to mix with premium dark spirits.
The 4 flavours are: Smoky Notes, Spicy Notes, Woody Notes and Herbal Notes and they will be launched in the month of June this year and currently it will be only available in the UK.
To take the unique familiar flavour of Coca Cola, the brand challenged a handful of the world’s leading bartenders. It experiments with over 200 traditional and contemporary ingredients to create the new mixtures.
The drinks come in Hutchinson glass bottle which was first used by Coca Cola in 1894 when the product was bottled rather than served at a soda fountain.
“Coca-Cola has always been part of cocktail culture and history, from the Cuba Libre of the 1900s to some of the world’s best cocktails today,” said Ana Amura, senior brand manager at Coca-Cola Great Britain.
“Coca-Cola Signature Mixers marks an exciting time for the brand and expansion into dark spirit mixology.”
According to figures from research company CGA, the moves come as drinkers increasingly opt for more expensive mixtures. Premium mixtures are growing at 32.9% compared to the 7% decline seen for mainstream mixers, a trend which is set to continue.
Here are the details of four Signature Mixers
1) Coca-Cola Signature Mixers Smoky Notes by Max Venning
It is an intense blend with smoky hints. This mix brings a nuanced dimension to deeply spiced rums and bold premium whiskies.
2) Coca-Cola Signature Mixers Spicy Notes by Adriana Chía and Pippa Guy
Spicy notes will taste ever so slightly of ginger, jalapeno and citrus fruits. To create a mixer with a considered balance of zest and earthy flavours that pairs beautifully with spiced rums, aged / gold tequilas and spicy or sweet whiskies.
3) Coca-Cola Signature Mixers Herbal Notes by Antonio Naranjo
It has flavours of lemongrass, dill seed and tagetes-a fancy word for a marigold. This one is described as a “delightfully floral, crisp and tart mix“. Coca Cola recommends serving it with amber whiskies and any kind of rum.
4) Coca-Cola Signature Mixers Woody Notes by Alex Lawrence
This mixer apparently has “a tart, light and refreshing profile, with a hint of warmth“. These elements, expertly blended, combine to elegantly enhance the mellow wood and sweet tropical flavours of golden rums and smoky to woody whiskies.
